Recently, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) recieved 3,500 photographs thanks to the financial support of Wallis Annenberg and the Annenberg Foundation, LACMA's trustee. The art works were from Marjorie and Leonard Vernon, collectors who surveys the history of photography "in the works of 700 artists, including leaidng 19th and 20th century figures".

Now, LACMA has 12,000 images in their hands and they will be showing their new additions in "A Story of Photography: The Marjorie and Leonard Vernon Collection" this October. The Annenberg fund had paid a hefty sum for these photographs and the rest was donated by the Vernon couple's daughter, Carol Vernon and her husband Robert Turbin.

Lomography!

I few days ago, I had decided to go to my local CVS to buy some a pack of Polaroid film (which, if you haven't heard already, Polaroid has discontinued producing). Regardless, the CVS down the hill from my home still carried this new novelty product and I was extremely ecstatic to hear of this. However, when I reached the aisle that contained my beloved films, CVS had boosted up the price from 12.99 - 19.99. Of course, this price was ridiculously expensive... thus, out of the question. Saddened, I drove back home with empty hands.

The past few days I have been thinking about photography and film cameras. This made me think of Lomography. If you know about Lomography, good. If you don't, well... let me explain quickly. They make plastic cameras that create various effects on the film (depending on which item you buy). People love it for that vintage feel of overexposed film... well, at least, that is why I love Lomo cameras.

The best way to experience Lomography is to check out their website. Here you go.

Web Service: FFFFOUND!

What I usually do when I visit other people's blog, is that I would usually check out the links they've posted on their sidebars. I found FFFOUND (nice) on Scott Hansen's ISO50 website. Usually, I trust well-known graphic designers to have good taste when referring to other artists or communities. Anyway, FFFFOUND! (that's with four Fs) is a web service that allows the public to participate in sharing and posting "found" images from the web. They can "also dynamically recommends each user's tastes and interests for an inspirational image-bookmarking experience".

Upon wondering around the site, I've discovered that the only way you can participate is through invitation. (Which totally makes not really a public thing). But besides this somewhat snobberish invitational junk, the sites got some really great images. Be sure to check it out.
