A taste of (Asian) Art
In June of 1993, ArtAsiaPacific Magazine was founded in Australia. Since then, it has become a major English-language publication in spreading Asian and Middle Eastern arts and culture in many parts of the world. ArtAsiaPacific Magazine is published on a quarterly basis and also puts out an annual almanac by the end of the year. The magazine is formatted similarly to that of other art magazines. It contains examples of artwork as well as profiles of budding artists, provides reviews about literature and movies as well as news from the arts community. Each magazine issue is thematically inspired wherein each one is devoted to a spceific country.
ArtAsiaPacific was initially put out by Janet Gough, but was purchased by Gang Zhao. The magazine is now based in New York. Former Editor-in Chief Elaine Ng currently co-owns the magazine along with the British Journalist Simon Winchester. This change of propriety was considered significant for the magazine, as the new owners/publishers aimed to change AsiaArtPacific's "academic" tone to one that is more easily appreciated and read by a wider mass audience. Under Ng and Winchester, the magazine took on the slogan "Today's Art from Tomorrow's World"
