Designer: Tom Judd

Having found 5oup.com, I also was fortunate to come across Tom Judd, one of the creators of 5oup.net. Judd graduated from Manchester Metropolitan with honors for his Bachelor's Degree and is currently completing a Masters at the Royal College of Art in Animations. He clientele includes Barclay, Burton Snowboards, BBC, and Doritos. Snooping around Judd's website, I quickly drew up an admiration for this man. He's got a massive arrangement of multimedia work that is truly impressive. From sketches to illustrations to 2 dimensional playback, Judd has a lot to offer. The one thing I like most about Judd's website is that he has an on-going project where he draws a drawing everyday and posts it up on his site.
Everyday is a self-set project intended to keep me drawing regularly. Each page represents a day of my life and is scanned and uploaded to this site on completion. I am currently in my second year of daily drawing which will finish on the 30th June 08. Volume 3 will begin 1 year after that date. I will endeavor to maintain this year-on year-off schedule through my entire life, and hopefully by the end of it all I will have a nice record of my artistic development.
Anyway, take a look around his site at www.tomjudd.co.uk. Yes, he's european ;)

Artist: Audrey Kawasaki

This first time I heard of Audrey Kawasaki was in my third year of high school. By then, she had already become famous for her paintings of innocent yet erotic-looking girls. She received her education at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn for Fine Arts Painting. Her style seems a bit like Art Nouveau and animation (well, it actually is because that's what it says on her website). Though the style may look familiar, her concept and paintings is purely unique. They may seem a bit wimsical, dreamy, and even lustful. Nevertheless, many people enjoy Kawasaki and her pieces and her prints usually sell out very quickly. Kawasaki has also been featured in the July issue of Juxtapoz Magazine, which you can check out here. I'll probably cover that publication in another entry some other day. But if you get the chance, stop by a bookstore and pick up issue! I'm not sure if Kawasaki has any current exhibitions or shows going on, if you know - leave a comment!

Some facts gathered from Kawasaki's site. Check out it out here.

Graphic Designer: Geoff McFetridge

If you like children's books, the 70s, and clean lines, you'll easily fall to favor works created by Los Angeles based graphic designer Geoff McFetridge. The canadian born graphic designer moved to L.A. in the 90s to attend the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) for a graduate degree. Though he had already gained popularity as a student (as a conventional graphic designer), McFetridge's stay in Los Angeles within the last decade has gained him a high-profiled clientile such as the Sophia Coppola, The Whitest Boy Alive (Video Above), and even Pepsi. What seperates McFetridge from other graphic designer is that he usually has freedom from his clients (a freedom McFetridge has worked hard for).

Personally, I really enjoy some of McFetridges pieces (like this video). I was fortunate to meet McFetridge during a speaking he had with Ed Fella for their show at REDCAT's called Two Lines Align. If you ever get the chance to meet a well-known graphic designer, take the opportunity!

Check McFetridge out, just google him (it's the same story everywhere).
